Terms of Service

These terms cover using our website and buying from Biltong Boeties. By browsing the site or placing an order you agree to them, so please give them a read. Last updated October 2026.

1. Who we are

Biltong Boeties is a South African online store selling biltong, droëwors and related snacks. You can reach us at hello@biltongboeties.co.za or through our contact page. These terms are governed by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

2. Using our website

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have the help of a parent or guardian, to place an order.
  • Please give us accurate details — we can't deliver to an address or contact number that isn't right.
  • Don't misuse the site: no scraping or copying our content and photographs, no automated ordering, no fraudulent or false orders, and nothing that breaks the law or disrupts the store for other customers.
  • All content on this site — our photographs, product copy, logo and brand — belongs to us and may not be reused without our written permission.

3. Placing an order

An order you place is an offer to buy from us. A contract is only formed once we confirm your order, and we'll show you an order number on screen and confirm by email.

We may decline or cancel an order where the product is out of stock, where a price or description was clearly wrong, where we can't deliver to your area, or where the order looks fraudulent. If we've already taken payment, we'll refund you in full.

Product images are styled for the shoot — biltong is a natural product, so colour, cut and dryness vary slightly from pack to pack. Weight is checked on our scale at packing time.

4. Prices and payment

  • All prices are in South African rand and include VAT.
  • Delivery fees are calculated at checkout and shown before you pay. Free delivery applies over R500 (R600 for outlying areas).
  • The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout. Orders are packed and dispatched once your payment reflects.
  • We may change prices and products at any time, but never after you've placed an order — the price you accept at checkout is the price you pay.

5. Delivery

Deliveries are handled by our courier partners and are subject to the timelines, rates and packaging details set out in our Shipping Policy. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, tell us — we'll replace it or refund you under our Returns Policy.

6. Returns, refunds and your rights

Our Returns Policy explains how to report a problem and what we'll do about it. Because our products are perishable, opened packs can't be returned for taste preference, and the ECTA cooling-off right doesn't apply to foodstuffs.

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the CPA. All goods carry an implied six-month warranty against defects, and you're entitled to a repair, replacement or refund where goods are defective or don't match what we advertised.

7. Promo codes and gift vouchers

  • One promo code per order, and codes can't be combined unless we say otherwise.
  • Codes are subject to any minimum order value and usage limits we publish when we issue them, and we may withdraw or change a code at any time — but not after you've checked out with it.
  • Promo codes and gift vouchers can't be exchanged for cash and aren't refundable.
  • Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months, work on anything in the shop, and should be spent in a single order. See our Gift Cards page for how to redeem and use them.

8. Product information and allergens

Each product page lists the ingredients and nutritional information for that product. Our biltong and droëwors contain meat, salt, vinegar and spices — if you have an allergy or dietary requirement, please check the ingredient list and speak to us before ordering. Storage instructions appear on every pack and in our FAQ.

9. Availability of the website

We work to keep the store open and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may pause the site for maintenance or changes, and we may correct errors in products or prices (including cancelling affected orders and refunding you in full) as set out above.

10. Our liability

We take reasonable care in what we sell and how we deliver it. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses — for example loss of profit or opportunity — arising from your use of the site or a delayed delivery.

We're also not responsible for delays outside our control, including courier delays, extreme weather, strikes, or power outages that affect packing and storage. We'll always tell you if your order is affected and keep you updated.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the CPA or the right to claim for loss caused by our negligence.

11. Complaints and disputes

If something's gone wrong, email hello@biltongboeties.co.za first — we'd far rather fix it than argue about it. Most issues are sorted within a day or two.

If we still can't resolve it, you may refer the matter to the National Consumer Commission or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, or take it further through the courts of South Africa. These terms are governed by South African law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page when you place an order is the one that applies to that order. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

Need something explained?

Email hello@biltongboeties.co.za and we'll happily talk you through it.
